Beekeeping Workshop – Splits

This beekeeping workshop is offered by Mountain Feed and Farm Supply
If you are a second season beekeeper and your colony has made it safely through the winter you may want to “split” your hive into two. Learn how to manage your hive after winter and how to make a successful split.
Topics we will cover:
- Colony health evaluation
- Spring cleaning
- Equipment requirements for Spring build up
- Nutrient support and supplements
- Methods of making a split
- Swarm management
- Bait hives and swarm catching
- Varroa mite management
If the weather permits, we will buzz up to the apiary for a hands on demonstration of these topics. Please bring your personal protective gear and a snack.
